A unidade da “The Economist” aponta para que a taxa de desemprego suba para 13,9% no próximo ano e atinja o pico máximo de 14,9%.

Quando terminar o programa de ajustamento acordado com a ‘troika', Portugal terá 831 mil desempregados. A previsão é da The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) que aponta para que o pico máximo do desemprego seja em 2013, altura em que o número de pessoas sem trabalho irá representar 14,9% da população activa. Em apenas dois anos de ajustamento orçamental - 2011 e 2012 - a economia portuguesa vai somar mais 173 mil desempregados do que em 2010, ano em que ainda estava a recuperar da crise do ‘subprime', mas ainda não tinha pedido ajuda externa.

De acordo com a EIU, que fornece as previsões para a revista britânica "The Economist", a taxa de desemprego subirá no próximo ano para 13,9% da população activa. Ou seja, terminado o ano de 2012, o país terá mais de 775 mil pessoas sem trabalho. Mais: o desemprego continuará a aumentar no ano seguinte, até atingir os 14,9%, o que equivale a mais de 831 mil desempregados.

A destruição massiva de postos de trabalho será o resultado de três anos consecutivos de recessão. É que, de acordo com a EIU, o Produto Interno Bruto (PIB) nacional irá encolher 4,1% em 2012 e 2,1% em 2013, depois de uma quebra de 1,4% este ano.

More: unemployment will continue to increase next year, until it reaches 14.9%, which equates to more than 831 000 unemployed.

The massive destruction of jobs is the result of three consecutive years of recession. Because, according to the EIU, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will shrink 4.1% in 2012 and 2.1% in 2013, after a fall of 1.4% this year.
